Maybe I'm a Spellbinder

Do I bind spells? Nah, I'm a teller of tales
of then and now, of fishes and whales
of Coyote and Badger, of ants and mice
of things so fine...or not so nice.

Of horses and cattle, of ravens and squirrels
of fine men and women and sweet little girls
of tractors and cops, of castles and knights
of bubbles to pop and other odd plights

Of duendes and fairies, of giants and elves
with lessons to teach and enlighten ourselves...
some plots are simple, other plots twist
to make us think more to gather the gist.

The work is quite hard, often taking much time
but the rewards are so great, so sweet, and so fine
like the eyes of those kids that light up so bright
and shine in my head on into the night.

The pictures they make in their own little heads
that last through the day and into their beds
and those that are best and really most true.
Do I bind spells? Well...maybe I do!
