Old and Far

By Gordon Benesh

Do you ever wonder what is old and what is far?
Right there! That star.
Beyond that building,
Over that tree,
Above that mountain,
Beyond that moon,
That little twinkle,
Began its journey to your eye
Before that building rose,
Before that tree grew,
Before that mountain was,
Before that moon began to spin,
That twinkle wasn't even halfway here
Before anything was alive.
So you wonder what is old and what is far?
Right there! That star!

A Jeffco Spellbinder, Gordon Benesh, was invited to go with his third grade class to the Denver Planetarium. Gordon waxed poetic.
